Voyage vers la province de "Mai Chau" à 4 heures de bus d'Hanoï et
découverte de ses paysages.
"Nous sommes allés chez l'habitant dans un village de l'ethnie des Tay
blancs...
... et nous avons rencontré Thu, une femme qui réintroduit le tissage traditionnel dans
sa communauté.
La communauté survit grace au tourisme et s'est peu à peu rendue compte qu'acheter le
tissu à la frontière chinoise est plus profitable que de le tisser soit-même.
Sur cette image, les tissus traditionels sont en haut à droite et la rangée du bas vient de
Chine. Aujourd'hui, le tissage traditionnel est réalisé avec des fils industriels.
Thu s'attache à réimplanter les systèmes de filature originaux et de tissage dans sa
communauté."
L'écorce depuis laquelle Thu crée la teinture rose pour le fil traditionnel. Les femmes plus
âgées de lacommunauté lui enseignent les méthodes traditionnelles qui ne sont plus utilisées
actuellement.
Elle veut partager cette connaissance et impliquer la communauté toute entière à la
renaissance de ces traditions. "

One more second, and you may actually go back to the last touch of the preparations of the end
of year celebrations. But for a moment, elandarts.com keeps you for evasion, from the daily frenzy,

Of course, there are already the gallery, bookstore and favourites. Presently, there is mostly
the report of the Australian photographer Nathalie Latham, who offers us a different preparation
for Christmas, in another universe, with different priorities.
Let's get a little deeper into the heart of Vietnam :
"This is the landscape of the Mai Chau province, a four hour bus ride south of Hanoi
(110km away).
We had a home stay in the village, its inhabitants being from the white tay ethnic group.
and met Thu, a woman who is bringing back traditional weaving to her community.
The community today, survives totally on tourism and have found that buying textiles from
the China border is more profitable than weaving oneself. In this image the traditionally woven
textiles are on the top right hand side and the bottom row of textiles are bought from the
chinese border.
Today, the traditional weaving is made by manufactured thread.
Thu, is working on bring the original thread making and weaving back into the community.
This is the bark that Thu creates the pink dye for her traditionally spun thread. The elder
women in the community are teaching her traditional methods that are no longer being used.
She wants to share this knowledge and involve the whole community into reviving
these traditions."
