Victor Brauner ( born in  Piatra Neamt, Romaniaie, June 15, 1903 - dead in Paris, March 12 1966 )

Painter from Romania - part of the important Parisian community of artists and scholars from Romania, with Constantin Brancusi, Eugène Ionesco, Émil Michel Cioran , Mircea Eliade and Panaït Istrati.

He studied at the school of applied art of Bucarest from 1919 to 1921 and had , there, his first personal exhibition in 1924. He was, then, a member of the Dadaïste group, and in addition with his paintings and drawings, he wrote for Dadaïst publications.

In 1930, he settled in Paris where he was close to the surrealist background and had his first exhibition thanks to André Breton.

During the war, he left Paris to hide in the Pyrénées
He was 63 when he died and he rests in Montmartre cemetery.
