Nathalie Latham nous présente sa vision personnelle, avec la découverte des communautés locales. Elles vivent dans un décor de film, mais en prise directe avec la vraie vie...
"L'écomusée de la Baie d'Ha Long est un projet qui a débuté en 2000 et c'est en fait cette baie dans sa totalité qui est ainsi devenue un véritable musée vivant. Les interventions visant à modifier la zone sont soigneusement planifiées et elles sont menées et surveillées conjointement par les directeurs du musée et les communautés qui vivent dans la baie.

"Un exemple extraordinaire de combinaison de développement et de préservation. Une école a été créée, et aussi un musée flottant qui sert tout à la fois de salle communale et de présentation des modes de pêche locaux. Les communautés de pêche sur la baie se rémunèrent sur la vente des billets d'accés à ce lieu de partage."
"Le musée flottant emploie des adultes du village des pêcheurs locaux. À notre arrivée, ils nous ont dit "nous n'avons rien à vous donner mais nous pouvons vous offrir une chanson." Voici l'image d'une interprétation d'une chanson faite avant un mariage : les femmes chantent et les hommes répondent. Si la mariée estime que la prestation du futur marié est insuffisante, elle peut refuser le mariage."
"Voici des habitants qui nous saluent - ils considèrent le Professeur Galla (qui a permis la création du musée flottant et de l'eco musée de la Baie d'Halong ) comme leur fils. Ils nous ont suivi depuis leurs embarcations tout le long du chemin jusqu'au musée."
"De retour à la maison en ramant. Il y a des maisons flottantes des deux côtés de la baie.
La nuit, lorsque l'on passe, on peut voir le scintillement des téléviseurs dans les maisons."

"Ha Long Bay Ecomuseum is a project which began in 2000. It's concept views the entire Bay as a living museum so that carefully planned interventions to change the area is monitored and researched by managers of the museum and the communities living within the bay. It is a flexible project driven by the simple principle that the conflicts between conservation and development could only be dealt with by bringing people and their environment together into productive partnerships."

"The floating museum employs adults from the local fishing village. At our arrival they said "we have nothing to give you but we can give you a song." Here is an image of an interpretation of a song done before a wedding : the women sing and the men respond. If the bride thinks the groom's team is not up to her standard, she can refuse marriage."
"Here are some of the locals greeting us - they consider Prof Galla, (who facilitated the floating museum and the Halong bay eco museum) as their son - so they followed us in their row boats all the way to the museum. "
"Rowing home back to the village. The floating houses are on both sides of the bay.
At night, as one passes, one can see the televisions flickering from inside their homes."
