Nathalie Latham

You may not see Nathalie Latham in her pictures - you just feel that she is nearby.

Let's have a look at her photographies and feel the unique spirit...

Behind every picture, there is a story- a unique relation that has been created. Maybe not so much with these sleeping japanese, but she shows  another way of living, where there is a happy life still after exhaustion. But surely with this beautiful asian woman who presents her destroyed land. A quiet landscape in Russia? It is indeed a russian atomic industry sanctuary. A blind telephone? The demonstration of a unescapable loneliness. Creative australians ? So they swallow taking off airplanes…

Let's discover one by one these images, attached here, and enjoy the music of Constance LEE - pianomaster known for her participation on last Hou Hsiao Hsien movie, "Three times", presented in Cannes festival in 2005.

So why? or how? Born from an english father and a french mother, Latham spent her early age surfing under the Brisbane sun. But this paradise son becomes too narrow and after a japanese degree at the local University, she hits the road for more discoveries: Kyoto, Paris, Sydney again, then New York. Then some Artist Residencies and Rewards that drives her to work fix and moving images: Annecy (France), Moscou, Pékin, Bucarest… Latham travels, shares, meets, loves, gives and receives. And she uses her camera to capture the energy.

Let's follow her and get exposed.

Another clew, is certainly her comment at the end of one of one of her articles: « (…) just dignified women and men, who like me, are searching for peace in their own way". Maybe we've found latham's final quest: translating this sentence - not in one of our languages but rather into the universal idiom of sensation - just behind the picture.
