C'est une rencontre que nous vous proposons, avec l'une des figures majeures de l'art contemporain issue de la péninsule indienne : Nalini Malani, née à Karachi en 1946, qui participa à l'émergence de cette nouvelle source artistique.

En 2007, elle est choisie pour le Pavillon international de la 52ème Biennale de Venise et la même année, une rétrospective de son travail a été organisée à Dublin, à l'Irish Museum of Modern Art. En 2009, son travail a été présenté dans 'Indian Highway' à la Serpentine Gallery de Londres, puis également au Musée Astrup Fearnley à Oslo, ainsi qu'à la Galerie Lelong à Paris.

Actuellement, une exposition personnelle lui est dédiée, 'Splitting the Other', Rétrospective 1992-2009,  au Musée Cantonal des Beaux-Arts de Lausanne en Suisse, jusqu'au 6 juin 2010.

Et Nalini Malani se trouve aussi en ce moment là où on ne l'attendait pas: à Roland Garros ! C'est en effet elle qui a créé cette année l'affiche du fameux tournoi de tennis parisien.
Une exposition se tiendra d'ailleurs à partir du 18 mai 2010 au Tenniseum, et qui reprendra 30 ans d'affiches Roland Garros.

We today propose to meet with one of the major artists of contemporary art, from the Indian peninsula : Nalini Malani, who was born in Karachi in 1946, and who actively participated to the emergence of this new artistic source.

And surprisingly, you may even meet with Nalini Malani unexpectedly, at the French Tennis open of Roland Garros ! Indeed, she is the one who created this year's poster of the famous tennis tournament in Paris.

An exhibition is also held from May 18, 2010 at Tenniseum, which looks back to 30 years of Roland Garros posters.
