TITUS CARMEL aux Bernardins (19/03 au 07/06/2009) :

C'est dans la nef que l'on pourra découvrir la Suite Grünewald de Gérard Titus-Carmel,  série de 159 dessins et d’une oeuvre peinte majestueuse, réalisée de juin 1994 à juin 1996. Cet ensemble est montré intégralement pour la première fois. Cette suite se déploie autour de la Crucifixion du retable d’Issenheim, peint par Matthias Grünewald au début du XVI ème siècle et conservé au musée d’Unterlinden à Colmar.

L'artiste nous entraîne dans une véritable entreprise de déconstruction de la dramaturgie du tableau. Au fil de ces représentations contemporaines des détails de l'oeuvre originale, Titus Carmel nous emmène dans une descente vers toujours plus de gravité, et finalement une sorte de paix, avec une libération des formes et des gestes. L’ombre se trouve ainsi réinvestie par une certaine lumière, qui l’envahit toute et finit par l'emporter.

CALDER  à Beaubourg (18/03 au 20/07/2009):

Les oeuvres Parisiennes d'Alexander Calder, de La Défense à l'UNESCO en passant par le Parc Floral de Vincennes, sont autant de repères, comme un chemin de piste, qui aujourd'hui nous conduisent au Centre Pompidou - Beaubourg.

On peut y découvrir certaines facettes rares de cet immense talent. Par exemple, on n'avait plus vu "le Cirque" en Europe depuis un quart de siècle.

Le caractère espiègle du sculpteur de mobiles et d'immobiles trouve dans cette oeuvre toute sa dimension. Et pour bien l'apprécier, il ne faut pas rater la projection du remarquable film réalisé en 1955 par Jean Painlevé : "Le grand Cirque Calder".

COBRA, à Beaubourg et sur eLandArts:

COBRA tient aussi le haut de l'affiche, également à Beaubourg, mais de manière plus modeste, avec Asger Jorn, qui bénéficie jusqu'au 11 Mai 2009 de sa toute première exposition en France consacrée à son oeuvre dessinée.

Le dessin représentait pour Jorn un véritable laboratoire, pour ses peintures comme pour ses sculptures et où l'humour, parfois tirant sur le noir, n'était jamais absent. Ainsi apparaissent ce qu'il appelle les "Aganaks" petits êtres, à la fois insectes et batraciens. Quant à la déclinaison de sa philosophie "triolectic", pour créer une variante méconnue de football à 3 équipes, elle témoigne également de l'esprit créatif, sans frontière, de l'artiste danois... TITUS CARMEL at the Bernardins college (19/03 to 07/06/2009) :

It's in the principal aisle that the Suite Grünewald by Gérard Titus-Carmel can be discovered. It is a serie of 159 drawings and one impressive painting, performed between June 1994 and June 1996. This set is shown extensively for the first time. This suite is deployed around the altar of the Crucifixion Issenheim, painted by Matthias Grünewald in the early sixteenth century, kept at the Colmar Unterlinden Museum.

The artist takes us on a deconstructing experiment of the ancient masterpiece drama. Through these contemporary representations of the details of the original work, Titus Carmel takes us to a descent into graveness, to reach ultimately a kind of peace, with peaceful forms and gestures. The Shadow seems reinvented by a certain light, which pervades it all and eventually prevail.

CALDER in Beaubourg (18/03 to 20/07/2009):

The various works of Alexander Calder that you may find in Paris, from La Défense to UNESCO through Vincennes Parc Floral, seem to constitute in our days some kind of secret marks, which will drive you to the Center Pompidou - Beaubourg.

Indeed, a magnificent exhibition is now offering to explore some unique and rare facets of this talent. For example, it has been a quarter of a centurye  since the "Cirque" has come to Europe.

The mischievous sculptor of three dimensional mobile and immobile works, demontrate in this last work the joyful power of his art. In order to fully capture the spirit, do not miss the remarkable film made in 1955 by Jean Painlevé: "Le Grand Cirque Calder."

COBRA, Beaubourg and eLandArts :

COBRA is also on the headlines at Beaubourg, with the remarkable but more modest Asger Jorn exhibition (until May 11th, 2009), the first in France dedicated to his drawings and sketches.

Drawing was for Jorn a laboratory for his paintings and for his sculptures,  where humor, although sometimes tainted with morbidity, was never absent. For exemple, what he calls "Aganaks" sometimes appear: some small beings, both insects and amphibians. This reflects the creative and boundless spirit of the Danish artist. Similarly, and for the declination of his "triolectic" philosophy, he also created an unknown variant of football with 3 teams...
