Elisabeth Braure

To discover the Elisabeth Braure photo album, West Side People Story,
her artist's page and her recent lithograph

Just a dance, and most of your secrets are already betrayed – and you can start discovering your partner. When one goes forward, the other goes backward – then, the otherway round – and finally both participate into a unique dancestep that can only be achieved jointly. One expresses while the other understands; like an artist and his ever present companion: the eye that will watch the masterpiece.

Braure drives us into large 'ochos' with complex 'salidas'. We suddenly happen to be in these ballrooms out of age, where a bandoneon is playing, together with a singing violin and a guitar. Most of all, she penetrates human soul – this breathtaking 'one-to-one' that lasts for 3 dances, Tango traditional dancing unit. This couple polished by the time, that loves as it eats or breathes; this other that still does not understand why it stands together, like two sky puzzle parts that do not really fit, and also this last one that softly tries to control the energy suddenly liberated by first encounter, when charms meet with darefull steps. Indifference is no longer accepted here...

Beyond this vision of a certain human relation, one can discover in these Tango paintings Braure's love for the hispanic world.

Thirteenth child of a wealthy family of Northern France, Elisabeth turns out to be a rebel. She flew from the age of 18 for a Madrid adventure. She believes in her destiny. A fraction of life later, she finally reaches South America. Buenos Aires, home of Tango. And its 'Plaza de Mayo' with the mad women fighting against injustice. And also Bolivia, where she accomplishes a UNESCO mission – drawing women in Andin villages. Then coming back 3 years later to capture evolutions and identify time impact. A cow is a cow, and its only through Braure special drawing style that one can feel the Andin giants just around.

'7 drawings a day ' - a lifestyle. And her pen slowly teaches this so sensitive hand. She succeeds in describing more than her world – our world. With visions of the friendly gathering , the family at the beach and also these mogulls in Sète that have jointly flown away.

Elisabeth, don't stop enlighting us !

Artistically yours,
